A Wombat’s Tale of Enjoying Super Delicious Tonkotsu Ramen at Ganso Akanoren Setsuchan Ramen in Tenjin, Fukuoka

Wandering around Tenjin

A small wombat was walking leisurely down a busy street in Tenjin, Fukuoka Prefecture. His name was Manager.

What appeared before Manager was a nice restaurant called “Ganso Akanoren Setsuchan Ramen Tenjin Honten”. The red and white brick was swaying in the wind, giving off a nostalgic retro atmosphere. The signboard read “Established in 1946,” and there was a warm atmosphere as if we were back in the good old days.

A large signboard shone above the entrance, and below it, a small wooden board was gently inscribed with the words, “The original Aka-noren”. A red lantern was also hanging, as if gently welcoming Manager.

Manager looked at the scene and said, “Hmm, this atmosphere is very wonderful. It might be a good idea to get a little closer,” he murmured.

You can stay forever

Manager quietly walked through the curtains of the “Ganso Aka-noren Setsuchan Ramen Tenjin Honten” (Original Setsuchan Ramen). Immediately, the aroma of delicious soup wafted through the air. The restaurant was bustling with activity, and all the customers were slurping their ramen happily. The counter was lined with red curtains, as the name implies, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

Manager sat down at the end of the counter.

“Hmmm, it’s a very lively and heartwarming space,” he said. This atmosphere is really comfortable.

Creamy, rich and extremely tasty tonkotsu shoyu ramen

As Manager waited at his seat, the pork bone ramen from the original Akanoren Setsuchan Ramen was finally delivered!

The bowl placed in front of us was filled with a milky white, creamy broth. Super-thin flat noodles swam in the soup, while chashu pork and chopped green onions added a splash of color. Just by looking at it, the aroma of rich pork bone broth wafted through the air, causing Manager’s stomach to growl.

Manager held the leek in his hand and took a sip of the soup first.

This is…! The deep richness and umami flavor filled his mouth. The perfect balance of soy sauce and pork bone broth is wonderful.

Slurping the ultra-thin flat noodles, the broth was soaked up, and it was as if happiness was spreading all over my body. Manager closed his eyes and enjoyed the taste of the soup.

Manager finished off his pork bone ramen, and his heart and stomach were very satisfied. He savored every drop of the soup and left the warm restaurant.

Outside, the sign “Ganso Aka-noren Setsuchan Ramen Tenjin Honten” caught his eye again. Seeing the red lanterns swaying in the wind, Manager stopped in his tracks and snapped a quick picture.

Manager’s small figure smiling for the camera was a blur in the bustling Tenjin district.
